  • 1 cup semolina
  • ¼ cup yogurt
  • ¼ cup chopped capsicum
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 large tomato chopped
  • 2 green chilies chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ¼ cup chopped Coriander leaves
  • Edible oil for Frying
  • salt to taste
  1. In a big bowl, take 1 cup of semolina, also known as Rava. Into this add ¼th cup of yogurt and mix well.
  2. Here, keep on adding water, at least 1 cup and stir the batter consistently. Keep it aside for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Add all the veggies ( capsicum, onion, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger and coriander leaves) and mix everything well. Let the veggies get drowned perfectly in the batter.
  4. You might need to add some water again, its okay. You can always add ½ cup more water if need be.
  5. Rava tends to soak water in time.
  6. Now, take a non-stick pan and turn on the heat to high. Drizzle few amount of oil on it and allow it to get warm.
  7. Now, take some batter in a ladle and pour it into the pan. Pour some oil on the sides of the uttapam and give it 2-3 minutes or so to cook nicely.
  8. Flip it and allow it cook on the other side as well.
  9. Now, take it out on a plate and serve it with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.

  • 2 cups Poha (washed and drained)
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 large potato diced

  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ turmeric powder

  1. How to Make Poha:
  2. Take a kadhai or a pan and turn on the flame to high. Add some edible oil and let it get warm.
  3. Now, throw in some mustard seeds, peanuts, green chilies and curry leaves to it and let them all splutter. Mix everything well.
  4. It's time to add all the masalas (salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder) and mix it all well. Sprinkle some water; you might need it here, as you do not want to burn the masala.
  5. Here, add the washed and drained poha and mix it all properly for a minute. (Remember, if you do not want the poha to get all clumsy, you can always wash and drain it right before the masala is preparing)
  6. The best part is poha do not need to much cooking time from you. You can turn off the gas couple of minutes later only.
  7. Squeeze a lemon and garnish some fresh coriander leaves onto it.
  8. Dish it out as it is. Poha goes perfectly with ginger tea.

Lemon rice is a lip smacking spicy dish that does not require a lot of time, patience, and so many ingredients either.

  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tbsp Asafoetida
  • ½ tbsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tbsp Split black grams
  • Salt as per need
  • 1 Lemon
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 2 Dried red chilis
  • ½ tbsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ cup Peanuts
  • 1.5 cup Boiled rice
  • ½ cup Grated coconut
  1. Step 1: Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp cooking oil to it. Once the oil heated well add one tbsp of mustard seeds to it, followed by half tbsp of asafoetida and at least four to five fresh and washed curry leaves. Stir all the ingredients well in the pan.
  2. Step 2: Now, add half tbsp fenugreek seeds, two tbsp split back grams(remember to wash it nicely). Add two whole dried red chilies. Break them into halves, then throw them in the pan and toss everything well.
  3. Step 3: Boil 4 cups of water. In the meanwhile, take one and a half cups of rice and wash them thoroughly. Once the water is boiling, add rice to it. Remember to cook the rice gently. You may also add half tbsp of salt to the boiling rice.
  4. Step 4: Once the rice is boiled thoroughly, drain the excess water and put the rice in a bowl. Now in the pan, add peanuts and roast them with other ingredients as well.
  5. Step 5: Add rice to the pan, and instantly add salt to it. Mix rice well, so that everything gets coated well in the rice. Take a lemon and cut it into a half. Squeeze the whole lemon juice into the rice and again give a good mix.
  6. Step 6: As rice is already boiled, you do not need to cook them for too long. It is always optional to add grated coconut to enhance the taste.
  7. Serve it hot with mango pickle or masala raita.
