Soya chunks are super easy to use, you just need to wash them in regular tapped water and later soak them in hot water or boil them on low flame, for about 10 minutes only. Some people prefer to squeeze them gently while taking it out of the water, well it appropriate to do it, whereas some people do not prefer to do this. The best part is soya chunks curry does not take much time to cook. You can serve soya chunks curry with plain jeera rice, Roti or Rumali roti. I usually prefer to cook soya chunks curry and have it with homemade Tawa Roti and some salad on the side. So let us now see what ingredients do we need to make Soya chunks curry.

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of soya chunks
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies finely chopped
  • 3-4 tbsp Edible Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp degi mirch powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 garam masala powder
  • Handful of chopped coriander leaves
  1. How to make soya chunks curry:
  2. Take a utensil and boil 4-5 cups of water in it. Add the washed soya chunks in it and leave it aside for about 10-15 minutes or so. Remember you can also just keep boil the water and add the pieces in it for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Now, take a kadai for this, add heat it on high flame. Now, add edible oil and allow it to heat up well. Now, throw in bay leaf, chopped onions and toss it up good.
  4. We need to have light brown color onion and green chilies and mix well again. Now throw in some chopped tomatoes and toss well again.
  5. Add a little salt and squish the tomatoes. After about 5 minutes, add all the powdered masalas(salt, red chili, degi mirch, coriander powder) and give it a gentle mix. Pour in some water if needed.
  6. Now add ginger-garlic paste and mix again. Let the masala cook for about ten more minutes and then add the soaked soya chunks by squeezing all the excess water in them. Now, mix well so that the masala could easily get coated with the soya chunks.
  7. Add ½ cup of water and let it come to boil. Add chopped coriander leaves in the kadai and allow it to cook for about 5more minutes.
  8. Now switch off the gas and serve it hot with your choice of Indian bread or plain Rice.
